Juror Comments on Episode 3: Theodore Roosevelt
"I haven't learned so much from a kid show since "Schoolhouse Rock" taught me how a bill becomes a law. This pilot is hip, funny, and crammed with information. In spite of its user-friendly drive-by pacing, it manages to convey its data in such a way that you pay attention as well as remember. Dave and Augie are reminiscent but not derivative of the Muppets, and Hillary Scott is really wonderful as their human counterpart."

" A group of 6 boys, ages 2-9 watched this. All sat through the entire title and talked back to the characters on-screen. Afterwards, they discussed the content as well as what they knew about other presidents. Several said they wanted to visit the president's house."

Review from Booklist

"Young Hillary and sock-puppet friends Dave and Augie travel to Sagamore Hill, Theodore Roosevelt's "Summer White House" in New York, to learn more about the twenty-sixth president of the U.S. Beginning with his sickly childhood and continuing through his presidency, the production documents Roosevelt's life and positive qualities--his love of nature and the outdoors, devotion to his family, and concern for the interests of common folk. A tour of Sagamore Hill showcases the Roosevelt family's treasured residence. The snappy format--animation, live-action footage, and archival photos--will keep young viewers' interest. A segment called "Who Wants to Win a Buck Twenty?" quizzes puppet contestants on facts about Roosevelt's life. A performing puppet band concludes this entertaining and informative program."
